JAN CORNALL
Once Upon a Time...
A girl called Jan was born to a mother called Marjorie.
The first thing baby Jan did was to send a projectile vomit across the hospital room - just something she had to get off her chest, so the family legend goes.
Mother Marj didn’t mind - she liked to encourage free thinking and creativity and valued making a mess with paints and crayons over keeping a tidy house (in the same way she loved to challenge community mores by not wearing a hat and gloves (gasp) to mother’s club meetings.
When Jan grew up and went to teachers college it all seemed a bit too tidy so she ran away to join the creative life of the theatre. There she learned to act, write and (finally) clean toilets. She loved it so much she was still on stage when she was eight months pregnant with her first child Cyd, and right up until the birth of her second child Louie (at home), she was writing a feature film script.
Not surprisingly, her children grew up into creative beings and found work in the creative arts. Strangely, one is tidy and one is messy… so the story goes…
Life INSIDE the (Life) Kitchen
Then life inside the life kitchen brought Jan’s special brand of creativity to the fore - in a team of strong real life women who are sharing the best part of themselves to help nurture the best in others.
Life OUTSIDE the (Life) Kitchen
Jan teaches writing and creativity in extraordinary places, performs and writes; novels, plays, articles, songs, and encourages all she meets to discover and contribute their creative talent to the world we live in.
